If an employer cancels medical coverage for an entire company, how does that effect the past employee currently on COBRA?

Unfortunately, COBRA does not protect employees if an employer cancels or modifies the group contract. Moreover, if an employer changes the group plan, if the employee wants to remain on COBRA, the employee must opt for the new plan as well, and pay the higher rate if there is one.
